The Department of Kinesiotherapy at School of Physiotherapy, D.Y.Patil University, Nerul, Navi Mumbai, has a large and sophisticated laboratory with state of the art equipments which meets the requirements of Maharashtra council of OTPT. The lab which has the capacity to accommodate a large number of students is deployed for giving hands on training to graduate students, interns and post graduate students and also for research purposes.
Kinesiotherapy is the core element of physiotherapy with application of scientifically based exercise principles adapted to enhance the strength, endurance, and mobility of individuals with functional limitations and also for those requiring extended physical conditioning.
The Kinesiotherapy lab is well equipped with latest equipments such as C-ROM, hand held dynamometer, pinch dynamometer, CPM machine, Pressure biofeedback units, digital goniometer, etc.
At the Department of Kinesiotherapy, practical and theoretical concepts of Bio mechanics and exercise therapy is imparted to our students by using teaching aids with the latest technology. The students are also taught to understand various quantitative methods of movement by practical’s. The department lays an emphasis to train students on the principles and effects of exercise as a therapeutic modality and the techniques in the restoration of physical functions.
The lab also has a strengthening and flexibility section which is used by faculty for the purpose of training sports persons, treating patients and teaching the students. The academic environment at the Department of Kinesiotherapy is conducive to prepare graduates to successfully meet the program objectives. The curriculum at the department is crafted to impart knowledge in the evidence based kinesiotherapy practice with an objective of equipping our students to deploy the same successfully in patient care. Apart from imparting theoretical and practical concepts, the department also provides clinical education experiences to its students.
