Hospital Visit At NMMC Hospital
DY Patil University School of Pharmacy, had organized a hospital visit at NMMC hospital (Turbhe Store Navi Mumbai) on 16th March 2022 for FY D Pharmacy. The entire visit was coordinated by Professor Mrs. Jyoti Katkar.
The visit started from 11:30 am guided Dr.Kamlesh Gaikwad Sir gave the important information according to World Health Organisation (WHO), a hospital is defined as an integral part of social and medical organization, the function of which is to provide for the population a complete healthcare, both preventive and curative like,
1. Healthcare setup: Healthcare services are the services designed to fulfil health-based needs of people / community / population, through various resources available like vaccine storage room.
2. Restorative Functions: Under this the students visited different sections to understand the various activities carried,
*Out-Patient Department: mentioning the rights of the patients was displayed along with other charts giving information about various health schemes and disease.
*Diagnostic Activity: Vaccine store room/Lab, infections storage cabins, X-ray department and Pathological lab
*Rehabilitative Activities: Counselling regarding HIV, hygiene practices.
Students were observed and have understood that civil hospital also carries out various preventive functions as:
a. Supervision of normal pregnancies and childbirth
b. Supervision of normal growth and development of children
c. Control of communicable diseases
d. Prevention of prolonged illness like Tuberculosis, malaria….
e. Provision of health education services
f. Preventive health check-up like HIV, Covid19, AID….
Hospital Visit was very interactive, informative and very useful for course-Social Pharmacy as well for Program.
