Highlights of MEDINSPIRE 2019
Now that MEDINSPIRE 2019 is over, it is safe to say that it was a medical summit grander than any other event of its kind India has seen thus far.Mementos were given, wisdom was shared and memories were made. MEDINSPIRE saw the bustling campus of DY Patil come alive with ideas, genius and emotion.
An event spread over 4 days saw an influx of over 11,000 eager minds flocking the registration desks to register for enlightening CMEs and workshops delivered by veteran doctors, professors and other healthcare professionals from all around the world.
Here are some highlights of MEDINSPIRE 2019
1. The Governor of Maharashtra arrives
Governor of Maharashtra Shri C VidyasagarRao arrived at the MEDINSPIRE venue accompanied by Cabinet Minister Shri. EknathShindeto inaugurate the event on Day 1. They walked in with pride and awe in their eyes as they took in the entire setup and congratulated Dr. Vijay D. Patil on his venture. His entire entourage was showered in rose petals whilst the NCC squad welcomed the Governor with an elaborate salute.
2. First TAVI Case in Navi Mumbai
The biggest highlight of the Cardiology CMEs and of MEDINSPIRE as a whole was the Firstsuccessful LIVE transmission of Transcutaneous Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) in NaviMumbai! It is a matter of great pride for MEDINSPIRE as it was performed at the DY PatilUniversity Catheterization Laboratory.
3. MEDINSPIRE souvenir book launch
A whopping 1400 abstracts full of medical genius and innovation were submitted to MEDINSPIRE and 1100 out of those were presented in the form of oral and paper presentations and also recorded in the MEDINSPIRE 2019 souvenir book launched at the inauguration ceremony which was presided by the Hon. Governor of Maharashtra Shri. C VidyasagarRao.
4. 8 high-fidelity workshops held at Asia’s first comprehensive medical simulation laboratory
Among 25 unique, experiential, hands-on workshops, there were 8 that held special importance because of their completely immersive and highly complex nature. These 8 were high-fidelity workshops that were carried out in the DY Patil Simulation Laboratory, Asia’s first comprehensive medical simulation laboratory.
5. Disaster Management workshop attended by the fire and police department
A first of its kind Academic Medical CME on ‘Disaster and Mass Casualty Situation Managment and Planning’ in India, was proudly held by the Emergency Medicine Department at MEDINSPIRE and demonstrated by Dr. Bonnie Arquilla and Dr. Moshe Michaelson and their team. Discussions on Mass casualty Substation were sparked and hands-on exposure to Disaster Ultrasonography and Disaster Management was given to each and every registered delegate in attendance for these workshops as well as the Fire Department, the police, etc. who were specially invited for the same.
6. An astronaut from NASA arrives
Brigadier General Charles Duke, a US army veteran and NASA Astronaut was a keynote speaker at MEDINSPIRE. He spoke about Cardiac effects in a Space-shuttle and the audience listened to him in rapt attention as he shared his experiences from his times in a space shuttle. The youngest person to walk the moon was present at MEDINSPIRE 2019!
7. MJ5, Vishal Shekhar, AtulKhatri perform live
MJ5, a world-record winning dance crew performedon a medley of popular Bollywood songs on Day2 of MEDINSPIRE, followed by an energetic AtulKhatri impressed the audience with his sense of humour and had them clutching their stomachs as they laughed. On 16th February, Bollywood music-composer duo Vishal and Shekhar drew a memorable curtain over Day 3 of MEDINSPIRE by crooning to their wonderful compositions as the audience swayed to the rhythm of their enthusiasm.
As Day 4 came to a close, all delegates, national and international speakers alike, left with beaming faces content with the arrangements and the set-up which seamlessly catered to the needs of all due to the efforts of a team of 500, working tirelessly to make MEDINSPIRE 2019 a huge success. The bustling campus of DY Patil University came alive with ideas, inspiration and emotion during these 4 days of revolutionary enlightenment.
