Dept. Of Oral Pathology Goes All Out For Oral Pathologist's Day Celebration
The School of Dentistry witnesses a grand celebration on the 24th of February.
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at DY Patil University School of
Dentistry pulled out all the stops to celebrate Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist Day on
February 24th. The day was instituted by the Indian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial
Pathologists in honor of Dr. Harnath Manishankar Dholakia, the first postgraduate teacher in
oral pathology in the country. Students participated in a range of activities, including 3D
model making, reel making, and a special stains themed fashion show.
The competition was fierce, with students showcasing their skills and knowledge on topics
like the development of oral and paraoral tissues, histo/lab techniques, and the pathogenesis
of oral diseases. In the end, winners were chosen for each category, with prizes going to
students from all levels of study. Competitions like reel making, special stains themed
fashion show and model making were promoted and partaken by our students.
The event was a fun-filled and wonderful day, with an overwhelming amount of participation
and effort put in by students, faculty, and staff. It was a fitting tribute to Dr. H.M. Dholakia, a
pioneer in the field of oral pathology, and a reminder of the important role that oral and
maxillofacial pathologists play in promoting oral health and enhancing patient care.
