Case of Verrucous leukoplakia on the lateral border of tongue
Male patient aged 34 years presented with a white lesion on the right lateral border of the tongue since the last two months. The lesion has gradually grown over a period of time to the present size. The patient was asymptomatic but cancerophobic. He gave a history of tobacco habit 8-10 times a day for the last 10-12 years. The patient had stopped the habit since the lesion developed on the tongue.
Clinical evaluation of the lesion suggested a verruca, verrucous leukoplakia, verrucous carcinoma. The lesion was excised surgically and the histopathological evaluation revealed a verrucous leukoplakia thus confirming the clinical diagnosis. The lesion healed uneventfully postoperatively.
