World No Tobacco Day Activities: Lecture and screening camp

On 30/5/2022, for World No Tobacco Day 2022 a lecture on oral health awareness and
an oral screening, awareness and tobacco cessation camp was conducted by
Department of Public Health Dentistry and Department of Oral Medicine and
Radiology.
The objectives of the camp were to educate the industrial workers on the harmful effects
of tobacco and conduct awareness about tobacco cessation. The presentation also
emphasized oral hygiene practices, the injurious effects of tobacco and tobacco
cessation. The camp was conducted at the Thane Belapur Industries Association Hall at
Rabale.
Activities conducted in the event included Lecture, Interactive question answer session
Diagnosis, Awareness and Screening for tobacco related oral conditions.
A total of 150 patients were examined and 82 for dental and tobacco related issues.
Treatment and counseling was recommended for those who needed it. Policemen,
Road Traffic Police, Industrial belt workers, auto rickshaw, drivers and the locals
benefitted from this initiative
We would like to take this opportunity to thank to Dean sir, Dr. Gaurang Mistry for
guiding us from inception to completion of the camp. Special mention to Thane Belapur
Industries Association authorities for their unconditional support and assistance
throughout the camp and Medicheck health services for facilitating this.
On 31/5/2022, to create awareness about Tobacco and its consequences on health and
environment, World No Tobacco Day was celebrated by Department of Public health
Dentistry on 31 st May, 2022 in Department, School of Dentistry, DY Patil deemed to be
University, Nerul by conducting lectures for students and encouraging them to
participate the video and poster making activity related to impact of tobacco on the
body/ environment and tobacco cessation.
