Program Outcomes
The following are the Programme Outcomes for the three-year full-time BA Mass Media and Communication programme at D.Y. Patil deemed to be University Students completing the programme should be able to:
- Theoretical & Historical Perspectives: Understand and apply the concepts and theories in the areas of communication; and demonstrate an understanding of the history & evolution of media forms and the role of professionals/institutions in shaping communications
- Effective Communication: Write correctly and clearly in forms and styles appropriate for the communications professions, audiences and purposes they serve by converting knowledge and experience learnt in the class room and simulated environments and apply to the real world situations
- Problem Solving, Critical Thinking & Research: Apply their knowledge and understanding for complex problem solving in the real world; think critically, creatively and independently and conduct research relevant to the communications professions in which they work
- Professionalism & Ethics: Understand and apply the principles and laws of freedom of speech and press; demonstrate an understanding of professional ethical principles in governance and management, and work professionally and ethically in pursuit of truth, accuracy and fairness
- Leadership, Management & Teamwork: Develop leadership skills, business acumen, managerial skills and the ability to work effectively in teams for potential self-employment, entrepreneurship and/or to contribute to enhancing the productivity, efficiency and bottom-lines of organizations employing them
Scope of Program
- B.A. in Mass Media and Communication course is an outcome-based programme. The programme enables students to understand the complete foundational study of Mass media and Communication.
- It will help the student to acquire skills and competencies to undertake numerous professional jobs as per the industry demands.
- The students will have the know-how of the pre-production, production and production process.
- The program will help them to apply creative thinking and technical skills in media production such as creating and disseminating content.
- After completing the graduation programme, students can either opt for a full-time job in different industries or choose to study further.

BCMS students are required to undertake internship for the period of 4-6 weeks (after semester 2) & 6-8 weeks (after semester 4) work on a Summer Internship in an organization. This internship is a unique opportunity to experience the dynamic media industry and its multifarious platforms. A hands on field experience which adds up to the theoretical knowledge gained during classroom sessions

Eligibility
- Student needs to have completed their class 12th from a recognized board.
- Student should have secured a minimum of 50% in their class 12th boards.
- Students from any stream can opt to pursue the course in BA in Mass media and Communication.
Course Duration
BB.A. in Communication and Media Studies is a 3 years course, spread over six semesters entailing specializations like Journalism, Advertising Management, Public Relations and Corporate Communication and Films, Streaming and Immersive Media
Fee Structure
Course fee INR 5.50 Lakh per Year
Mode of Payment
- After the step of successful document verification and allocation of seat to the desired course, the following modes of payment can be adopted.
- Initial payment of first Semester Tuition Fees (50%) needs to be paid through either RTGS/NEFT/IMPS mode.
- The students can also pay in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in the name of the course or through cheque payment.
- The students shall be issued online receipts after the deposition of the Tuition fees (Semester 1)
- In case of any discrepancies, the students should visit the Centralised Admissions Office
